Abundance in a Pepper

I hear so many people speak of lack, lack of money, lack of love, lack of fulfillment, lack of happiness. I do this myself. Today I picked one of the last peppers from a pepper plant that I've been growing all Summer. As I cut open the pepper I decided that I would save the seeds for next year's garden. I looked at all the seeds inside the pepper. I never really looked at or noticed how many seeds are in one pepper. It really amazed me. I realized that from this one pepper I could have pepper plants and peppers for the rest of my life! Even if I saved just a few seeds from this one pepper I could grow pepper plants next year and from those plants I could save the seeds and it could go on indefinitely. This simple realization really touched me. The design of Mother Earth is so loving, so giving, so abundant. If you ever feel lack in your life grow a pepper plant! And when the plant gives you peppers, really look at the seeds. Seeds are miraculous, magical, beautiful gifts and true abundance.

Summer Solstice and Midsummer Music

 

I adore June, everything is green and in bloom, at least in my part of the world. June is also my birthday month and this year my birthday, June 20 falls on the Summer Solstice. And I really love that! Summer Solstice/Midsummer/Litha is a time to celebrate life, the scent of lilac and honeysuckle, the abundance in the garden, the sunshine. And speaking of birthdays, three years ago I started to think that becoming a new “number” every year was becoming redundant. I had a thought that instead of becoming a new number every year, why not embrace a new color each year! My favorite colors are the blues and the purples. Three years ago I chose cobalt blue as my birthday color, last year it was aqua marine, this year it is violet. So when I am asked “what birthday this is” or how old I am, I say, cobalt blue, or aqua marine or this year my answer is violet. I usually get odd looks, but when I explain my birthday color idea, their eyes light up, and it doesn't matter if that person is 12 or 90, they seem to like the idea. And they usually ask, “can I pick a birthday color too?” Of course you can!

Moon Garden

 

I've always had a deep connection to Mother Earth and her creatures. But lately I've been feeling a need to connect with her even more. The way I've been connecting recently is through gardening. To continue where I left off from my last post, I am going to talk about gardening in harmony with the phases of the moon. There are scientific reasons and spiritual reasons for gardening this way. Scientifically speaking it is believed that the moon influences ocean levels, tides and water, the moon pulls water upward bringing moisture to seeds. On a spiritual level, gardening in line with the phases of the moon is like writing a love letter to Mother Earth letting her know that you now desire to live more in harmony and balance with her.

Gardening in line with the phases of the moon is beautiful and simple. On the day of the new moon or the day of the full moon you would not plant anything. The day after the new moon to the full moon, the waxing phase, is the time to plant above ground plants such as tomatoes, greens, herbs, peppers and cabbage. On the day and week after the full moon, the beginning of the waning phase, is the time to plant below ground plants such as, garlic, onions, radishes, parsnips and carrots.

The last quarter of the moon phase (the week before the new moon) is not the time to plant but to harvest.

A Land Between

Today is a wonderful day to walk in an enchanted garden

A Land Without a Queen

The land is quiet

the land is still

the land has no Queen

she's gone

on a mission

to bring enchantment

to the dark world

the world that lost its enchantment

that forgot

now she is lost

lost in the dark world

now she's forgotten

what enchantment is

but

slowly

she is remembering

finding her way in the dark

sharing the gifts she brought

the enchantment

one day she will go home

a land without a Queen

waits . . .

cardinals, morning doves, sparrows

a cardinal took one seed

flew off

sat in the bare branches

when she desired another seed

she flew back to the feeder

so simple

so perfect
