There is an exact moment in the air when Summer is gone and Autumn returns.
I love the heat of Summer but I also love the chill of Autumn.
And
The scent of apples,
cinnamon,
burning wood.
The splashes of
burnt sienna and
ruby in the trees.
I wasn't sure what direction this painting was going in when I was painting it.
But now I feel it represents a being coming out to dance under the Summer sun one last time and say goodbye.
Magic and Love,
Julie
Wow! now that is what I call a vibrant painting! :)
The ferns and seedpods in the foreground are fantastic. I think your magical being may be related to the phoenix :)

Ah, yes, I like Nigel's comment - related to the phoenix!
Here in the UK I think our spring and autumn are longer than yours. Over the last years as a blog reader I've got the impression that parts of the US where the summers are hot and the winters are cold seem to move quite quickly from the one to the other, whereas here our four seasons are pretty much equal length. Moving from summer to autumn can take several weeks, starting in August and ending late September or maybe even early October. For me, it finally comes on the day we put the heating on and I need to wear tights again - but that wouldn't make such a lovely painting as yours!

Nigel, thanks and I like your idea about the Phoenix.
Janice, thank you, and our days are kind of crazy this time of year, some mornings it feels like Winter and then in the afternoon it feels like Summer again. ;)
