When I was little I had many dreams. One of my dreams was to live in a castle or a big vintage house. So it's funny that now I love to read about people who are living a minimalist life style. I love to read blogs about people living simply in a tiny house, a quaint cottage and of course preferably by the sea.
I now find myself living in a home of my childhood dreams. I'm not in a castle but I'm in a lovely big old country house. It's many hours from the sea. I now crave simplicity and after four years of living in a landlocked State, I really crave the Ocean. Yes simplicity and the Sea.
But even though I'm far far away from the Sea . . .
I can paint outside here
I have room for my furry children here
My sweetheart and I can have dinner in a field here
I can have guests here
There is no Ocean but pretty streams here
And although the Ocean calls to my heart
there is so much to be grateful for
far away from her.

Thank you for sharing your pictures. They are lovely. I too love the sea but have to be happy going to sit by the lake. When we do get to the ocean it is truly special.

There's beauty to be found wherever you are. I love living by the sea - and we're never really far from it in the UK. But there is space and openness and peace in equal measure in the countryside. I hope you get to enjoy a trip to the ocean sometime soon Julie. Better still a trip to MY ocean!

Wonderful post. Looking at all that is amazing helps to make those cravings and the thoughts of things that aren't quite perfect seem less big.
